Violets

Today, the blanket of violets which have colonized so much of the beds on the south side of the house have come happily into bloom. Posted by Hello

I awoke early this morning to a sound that might have been an earthquake, or perhaps a terrorist strike. It was about 6:20 a.m., and to be honest, I was too tired to be that concerned. As I dropped my head back onto the pillow, I had some vague sense that the dog was involved.

Much later, I learned that O and Emily G. were seeing a trio of deer as they made their way to the pond shore for a drink. Em was so excited she nearly vibrated to pieces, and eventually, knowing she was expected to be quiet, made of herself a barking fool and shook the house's very foundations.

Allyssum seedlings...the variety with the larger white flowers...found their way into several garden beds after work today. More weeding was done, and some rudbeckia and yarrow seedlings transplanted. Tomorrow brings a double at work, so no work in the garden. Perhaps it will rain.
