A Foxglove Factory

So...you may have noticed that I've not had much to say about the Three Sisters garden recently. Truth is, the corn and squash were not one of this year's successes. The beans put out a small crop, but no more than enough to munch on as I rambled around the garden each day.

The bed was too far away, so either got too much or not enough water...and the sun exposure was, I realized after planting was done, not quite as full as such a bed might enjoy. But at the feet of these failed others, another crop has thrived. Posted by Picasa

It turns out, the bed seems to offer exactly the right conditions for foxglove, which has seeded itself here like crazy. I probably stirred up the seeds when I turned the bed over, as there's a bit of the stuff growing nearby. Some I'll leave to grow and bloom here, but I've been transplanting some of these fellows out to other places in the garden, too. Posted by Picasa
