Operation: Oregano Freedom

Today I began to take a stand against the Oregano. It's lovely, but too much of a good thing is...well, too much. I've given away a few clumps of this stuff...but today I took shovel and rake in hand and torn out a bed of the stuff. Posted by Picasa

After a while, I'd cleared a good sized space of garden, and began to amend it a little, as I worked at re-grading. In the background, you can see the little trellace that hosted the first morning glory vine. I noted today, working carefully around it, that it still has a couple of viable buds still to come. Posted by Picasa

It didn't take long to fill the space. First I laid in a broken-patio-block path to get to the birdbath. Then, from other locations around the yard, I added a ruby coreopsis, two carnations, a curry plant, a peony and some irises, two single stalks of chrysanthemum, a few allyssum and a burning bush, which was languishing in a shady corner. Posted by Picasa

I also added some bulbs...grape hyacinths clustered here and there, and also some tall alliums, in white and blue. Posted by Picasa
