Another variety of sweet william is heard from in the front garden bed. With white speckling and blue stamens over magenta petals, this one's a knock-out.

And yet another kind of bellflower has come into bloom (making three, for anyone who's counting), this one in the side garden by the kitchen door. This is the one I'm most familiar with, but I'm pretty sure it's more of an August bloomer in the Adirondacks.

A first blossom on the recently-discovered rose bush in the meadow. I'm keeping a careful eye on this one, to see how it handles the additional moisture in the area (the meadow is beginning to flood in from the now-very-full pond...one more storm may do the trick), before I decide if it needs to be relocated.

These painted dianthus were new additions to the garden this spring, and everyday they convince me they were well-chosen. I look forward to seeing them fill in the area around the base of the neighboring giant yucca.

I've also noticed that the line of roses planted along one side of our mostly-shady driveway have begun to bloom.

Here's another sweet william variety.

From a tiny stick of a rose (transplanted in the fall and still not quite all it could be...) has come this perfect little red rose blossom.

The latest proof that July is upon us is found not only on congested roads, or higher temperatures, but in the garden, as these orange daylilies begin their slow-motion fireworks display.

The back garden, around 7:30 this morning. Few bugs, gentle breezes, bird calls...a perfect place for this gardener to enjoy the day's first cup of coffee.
