The rain was gone by early this morning (or maybe not so early, considering the fallen-back hour "gained" for Daylight Saving last night), but the wind gusts have continued throughout the day.

Wind sweeps through the bright green grass of our meadow.

Several signs of the change of season. With the pickerel weed dying back on the pond, we can see once again the duck family who've been hidden amongst the green all season. These are the ones who summered here. As the season turns, more of the others will return. (This photo is my first failed attempt of this new fall duck season to catch them on film.)

Another view of Krogman's pond; still no ducks, but plenty of these lovely red berries.

Before the early dusk overtook us, I was able to get some new daffodil and crocus bulbs planted. There's still more daffs to be dug in here and there...and a nice bagful of drumstick allium for the back garden.

There's something about planting bulbs each fall that I really enjoy. It's sort of insurance for a happy future: no matter what else our days bring, at least there'll be some pretty flowers to enjoy!
