Well, the pansies of spring had seen better days, so I salvaged those that didn't look past all hope, and have offered them the cover of some hearty new companions: a nice orange mum and a pair of white ornamental kale.
George always looks a little ratty come this time of year, since the summer heat makes him shed heavily. But here he is looking positively natty after a grooming session. He doesn't look eleven, does he?
Not far from George's lair is this pink Rose of Sharon.
In the back gardens, the yellow African marigolds are blooming heavily, as seen here with this black-eyed susan.
What a difference a day or so makes, huh? I can nearly taste that sandwich!!
The veronica returns for a second blooming just in time to sing harmony with another of the african marigolds.
The surprise of the day came at the sight of this fantastic Stargazer lily. This was part of the late shipment this spring...so as with the others, the plant reached only half its possible height, and is blooming heavily almost hidden in a cloud of oregano.
Here's the second bloom around the back of the stalk. Great stuff, huh? Oh, if only you could smell it...
