Brand New Day

The flowers are beautiful, as always, and the icing on the cake is that you threw in a bunny rabbit photo! :)

And a beautiful day it was. I especially like the turtle and the one picture of rain in between the others.

Pictures translate to a thousand words - not sure if I love the turtle or the sandy stonehenge the most! In the words of a lady we loved, food for the soul, Greggy.

Beautiful. I like the sunrise on the beach. (or is that a sunset? Hard to tell without a compass)

Jess, the buns are fearless now...this little dude let me get within a couple of feet with him before leaping away.

Butch, it turned out to be a mixed bag day, weather-wise. Same as we've had all week. I'm jonesing for a full-on, hot sunny day to help the plants translate all this moisture into more flowers and fruit!

Hi, Anony-Mom! Found this young snapper (about softball sized) in the middle of Not Wisteria Lane early this a.m. when I returned from going to see the sunrise (*). The temporary nature of the sand ramparts touched something in me this morning.

Java (*) Sunrise. I'll try to get a compass to include in future shots...but here's a tip: the sunsets are usually at the ends of the posts! ; )

The circumspect rabbit looks very wise for a rabbit, but it may deceive. I have earlier lived near the sea and I guess especially in autumn or winter walking on the beach reduces our thoughts to a reasonable level, it is intimidating but it feels saved.

It may be an act, Martin, but I agree, he seemed very wise and noble appearing, at least in this photo.

On the sea, I agree. There is nothing for clearing my mind or getting my thoughts together like a walk on the beach. I am small next to the ocean, but I don't feel scared by that. It's a comfort to know my place in the order of things.

I love the turtle!

Walking the beach (at sunset, in my case) is what I miss most about home in Sarasota. When I win the lottery—oh, yeah, gotta buy a ticket—I'll have a small place on Siesta Key. That tranquil smallness of watching the ocean horizon is soothing to the soul.

Beautiful photographs of the morning sun. The silhouette of the flag blowing in the wind is a very nice touch. I think I know why Torn likes the turtle. ;-)

This is the first official documentation of the Tortoise and the Hare. :) And the tortoise is ahead! :)

Lovely photos-- all well-earning their 1,000 words a piece. :)

Well! After all your recent drama it was probably restorative to touch base with the world. Not that things like ethics aren't important--To live in society you have to cultivate the mutual respect that runs counter to plagiarism and other kinds of theft. But there are many times I'd trade in all the words and deeds laid down by humanity--my own, included--for just one perfect sunrise.

Afod, it's easy to know why Torn loves the turtle--despite their grumpy appearance, they are highly lovable...although this little dude didn't seem overly pleased when I lifted him out of the road for the safety of the other side.

Of course, Torn's also a fan of the red-lipped batfish, so go figure! ; )

Birdie, it's truly a soul-cleansing, day-washing experience, those beach walks. I hope you win the lottery real big, so you can come here to visit on the way to Siesta Key!

Jenn, I can't believe I didn't spot that!! Good one!

It was indeed, Lost! And sunrises are an especially rare treat for this night-owl.
