So is that the trick? Film it and then freeze frame the lightning part?

Remarkable difference between the pre- and con-lightning shots. That stuff is bright! Nice sequence.

Hey Torn! Until I can get a more elaborate digital camera with options for slower exposures, screen caps is definitely the way to go!

Joe, I should've included a few frames that came in between the first dim shot...one is just simply a frame of blinding white light--you couldn't even see the garden or anything!

This lightning, she is amazing stuff, no?

Ahh nice. I've never been able to capture lightning. Great shots here and below--I love the long legs on the daisy.

Thanks, CJ! I'm excited to have figured out how to share this--a good summer storm is definitely a part of the whole garden experience!

Nice capture of those bolts, my friend! I'm sure glad the last frame wasn't a close-up of the dude with the camera getting "zotted" :)

A free-standing tripod, Jenn, kept me more or less safe from potential zot-ting...

I hope soon there are heart-warming and wise remarks about the garden after the storm; incidentally, your soundtrack has inspired me to create my "own".

All the best.

Screen caps or not, they're cool!

Hi Sage - thanks!

I'm happy to say the garden is just fine--there's even some new things to enjoy! Can't wait to check out your soundtrack.

Thanks, Jess. I think it's pretty cool, too. Best part about screen caps is you can go frame by frame and really see how the lightning behaves...which is just incredible.

Lightning: I'm a big fan.

Great capture!

Last night they shot something in the atmosphere here to try and make it rain on all the pollution -- the sky exploded with this weird lightning and all the buildings rattled with the sonic boom. Not a cloud in the sky and thunder and lightning -- a little disconcerting -- hey but I could see my hand in front of my face when I went outside this morning.

Never heard of that before.

It must've been been so odd, but spectacular, too. Did it last long?

Great that it worked so well. I bet that will make some athletes very happy!!

Wow, thank you so much for this. I'm a wild nights girl living in a no dramatic weather location. It's great to know you are getting such glory. (I know. I used that word in the last comment too, but your pictures make me want to use that word.)

These are AWESOME!!!! Great photos...curious how you did them. I love how they are multi-branched like tree roots. Lucky you. I LOVE being out in a storm. Did you get hit? LOL Are you still alive. Hey, like I told you...I've been hit twice! Great post.
