Our Tree

One of my favorite parts of the Christmas celebration, now fast upon us, is the absolute glorification of the natural world and its beauty. What better way to do that than to welcome a fresh evergreen into your home, as folks have done for hundreds of years. Ah, the scent as the tree warms, its branches spreading...I even enjoy the sap on my fingers. Each tree is lovelier than the one the year before. This year's is a balsam fir, newly arrived from Vermont, I hear. Great thanks are offered to Consider the Lilies nursery in Wellfleet, for wrapping up their tree selling and sending the extra in our direction! Tomorrow, the lights.
