Yep, I'm back now. I had some troubles posting pics here the first week of January, and after many unsuccessful attempts, I temporarily surrendered in favor for more enjoyable winter activities, like computer games, snuggling with seed catalogs and comic books, watching the Olympics, working (of course) and a host of other things.
This weekend we've seen some wonderful warm temps (well, okay, 50s...but the first time we've felt that since...okay, January) and with bright sunlight and ever-lenghtening evenings, it has truly begun to feel like spring. This morning, I opened the slider to the song of the newly-returned red-wing blackbirds, a cardinal sang a most exuberant and joyful song in a tree near the house, robins and assorted other birds twittered everywhere, while squirrels chattered a reply from the treetops and the ducks joined the chorus from the pond. All over the yard are very promising clumps of low green foliage. Only the threat of 18 degrees later in the week kept me from raking away the winter mulch.
But still, finally, I was inspired, and I've gotten all the best shots of the last few months together, and successfully posted them here...so it seems, suddenly, as 'though the Midnight Gardener has returned from a trip through some time warp in space, with three months of blog filling up in an afternoon.
Nah, it's just been winter.
