Seasoned Travelers

My treasured garden heliotrope (valerian) was originally a nursery discovery when I was gardening in the Adirondacks. It joined me on Cape Cod when I washed ashore in the late Nineties, and has flourished here. This division accompanied me on the roadtrip, as I brought it back to plant as a treat for Dad later in their growing season.

Some pansies also came along from the Cape, to bring a little extra early season cheeriness to Mom's gardens. Even though our Cape gardens are further along, it was certainly fun to rake off the garden beds there and see everything beginning to show...like going back in time a few weeks, for what the English might call "a second bite of the cherry."
