The Stage is Set

Here's the big garden bed out in front of our house. Yesterday I spent an hour or so picking out bits of clam shell and returning them to the surrounding path. Even in this long shot you can tell I didn't get it all, but it was a good chance to get down close and see what's happening there. I rebuilt this bed in the fall, so this year it should be full of all sorts of things: hyacinths well on the way, crocuses here already passed...but early evidence of daylilies, phlox, spiderwort, roses, grape hyacinths, star of bethlehem, rose of sharon and plenty of shasta daisies...not to mention a host of things I've forgotten to mention...oh, like foxglove, and alliums and perennial geraniums! And this doesn't mention the assortment of seeds I scattered in there when the replanting was complete. It's hard to tell it from this shot, but this should be quite the show this season.
