I did eventually check the meadow, and it has not begun flooding yet. Of course, as I write this (around 7:45) we have seen a renewal of heavy rains this evening, (after a few hours off to poke around the yard), so anything's possible. I heard on the news they were considering this an historic storm in Massachusetts.
This columbine, and several others like it, will be blooming shortly.

The real entertainment this afternoon was to be found indoors, anyway. Here's another of the regular visits to our living room window feeder by one of our most-outgoing neighbors.

I know I'm supposed to be annoyed at these guys and the occasional havoc they wreak in the yard. But to be honest, I think they're kind of cute, up close...and I don't mind that they visit the feeder. Which is good, really, since I'm pretty sure I couldn't stop them if I wanted to.

I was, at first, surprised not be joined by the ever squirrel-agitated Badum, jostling for viewing space at the feeder window. He is usually all over these squirrel visits. But then I remembered the dining room window is offering equal value for kitty entertainment these days. In the last 24 hours, a robin has adopted the cardinals' abandoned nest from last year, in the branches of the andromeda "tree."

One of the robins stands watch in a tree across the way (I'm thinking if their nesting is successful, we may have some issues using that front parking area and garden for a while), while the female cardinal (original nest occupant) looks on from above. Who hasn't looked at a place where they used to live a little wistfully?

Well, the evening's rolling along, and I think I've said all there is to this evening. Time to fix a cup of coffee and settle in tonight's series finale of The West Wing. I'll really miss that show.
But before I go, I wish a fond Happy Mother's Day to Moms and Grannies everywhere!! Thanks for all the great things you bring to our lives!!
