Rainy Day

Another ocean storm brought us a day of mostly heavy rains today. Since it was also a day off from work, it meant the perfect opportunity to sleep in a bit, and spend the day surfing. Mostly, I had some fun surfing the blogging community at Blogspot. Rare is the free time to really explore that Next Blog button at the upper right corner of the page...but there are so many interesting, amusing, or otherwise entertaining blogs out there. It was great to have the time to take a proper tour of the Blogosphere. If time allows for you, I highly recommend it.

In addition to exploring Blogspot, I also found some garden blogs online here. I also took the time to read a translation of Iranian President Ahmadenijad's recent letter to President Bush. Very interesting, that. I expect we'll be hearing much about it in the days to come, and I thought it good to read the source material before all the spin begins. The translation I read is posted at LeMonde. In lighter fare, I enjoyed poking around the Gardens and Properties section of the London Times, including the garden blog of Jane Owens, which I like to check in on regularly.

Late in the afternoon, the rain let up, which is when I grabbed the camera and headed outside to capture these shots. Too wet to do much of anything beyond poke around a little...but it was a nice change from sitting inside. The rain returned in a finer, misty variety this evening...and it sounds like tomorrow will be more of the same. No complaints. I have made a note today, that I need to remember to plant some portulaca this spring. I forgot this favorite little flower last year, and will be happy to have some around. I expect it will love the conditions of the back garden, with its bright sunshine and good dirt.
